Chief Warrant Officer Gérard Poitras, CD

Chief Warrant Officer Poitras enrolled in the Canadian Forces as a Traffic Technician in Mar 1983. Following his graduation from trade training in Mar 1984, CWO Poitras was posted to Canadian Forces Base Chatham.

During the period of 1984 to 2007, CWO Poitras was employed as a Traffic Technician at Air Mov Sqns in Germany and Canada, and as a Loadmaster on the Cosmopolitan, Hercules and Airbus aircrafts attaining approximately 4500 flying hours. His postings have included CFB Chatham, CFB Baden, CFB Lahr, 8 Wing Trenton, and 14 Wing Greenwood. He has flown operationally in various operations at home and abroad with 412, 413, 436 and 437 Sqn and as an instructor with 426 Sqn.

Since his promotion to CWO in Jun 2007, CWO Poitras has been employed as the 429 Sqn CWO and has deployed as the JTF(Afg) Air Wing CWO in Kandahar from May to Nov 2009.
