Thursday October 5th, at the Andy Anderson Arena, the 16 Wing Eagles played host to a hockey team from Barrie’s Twin City of Zweibrücken, Germany.  The team known as the “Kaltstart Flyers” is at home in the Peter Cunningham Memorial Arena, which is located at the site of the former 3 (F) Wing, Zweibrücken.

A majority of the visiting players learned their hockey skills at the hands of volunteers from the Royal Canadian Air Force who took time to teach the local youth.  Their hockey roots go back to the days of the RCAF Flyers.  No coincidence that they too are called Flyers.

This game and the get together that followed gave the visitors a chance to renew acquaintances and to build on the ongoing relationship between 16 Wing, the City of Barrie and the City of Zweibrücken.
