425 Tactical Fighter Squadron from 3 Wing Bagotville, Que., was invited to participate in the United States Air Force’s Exercise Red Flag-Alaska conducted at Eielson and Elmendorf Air Force Bases, Alaska, from Aug. 11 to16.
The exercise is a multi-national exercise that takes place up to four times a year.
It started in the Philippines under the name Cope Thunder in 1976 but Mount Pinatubo’s 1992 volcanic explosion moved the exercise to Alaska.
The exercise series is separate from the Red Flag-Nellis series that takes place at Nellis AFB, Nevada.
