3 Wing Bagotville is home to the CF-18 fighter.
There are over 40 CF-18s in service with 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron. The multi-role fighters monitor and control Canadian airspace and contribute to the Canada/US NORAD agreement. They can also be called upon to support NATO and UN contingency operations anywhere in the world.
Fighter crews from 3 Wing also support other government departments, including law enforcement agencies such as the RCMP.
To fulfill its missions, 439 Combat Support Squadron at 3 Wing is equipped with the CH‑146 Griffon helicopter.
While the primary mandate of the Griffons is to simulate an "enemy force" to the CF-18 during electronic warfare training, it is also used for search and rescue missions in the region.
