Central Band Ensembles

The Central Band of the Canadian Forces, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, has gained an international reputation as one of Canada's leading military musical organizations representing the Air Force and supporting all elements of Canada's military.

In over seventy years of service, the Central Band has performed at concerts, parades and festivals around the world in countries such as Holland, Germany, France, England, Italy, Cyprus and the United States. The band has also performed for royalty, world heads of state, popes, prime ministers and governors general.

Under the direction of Major Dave Shaw, CD , the Commanding Officer and Director of Music, The Central Band maintains three distinct specialized ensembles, the Central Band Wind Ensemble , the Air Command Pipes and Drums and the Canadian Forces String Ensemble . Each versatile group is able to provide smaller ensembles with repertoire suitable for varied and specific engagements. The many ensembles of the Central Band can be found performing almost everyday of the year.

The Central Band continues its role as musical ambassadors of Canada representing and supporting all elements of the (Canadian Forces) military and contributing to Canadian culture both at home and abroad.
