A-GA-135-003/AG-001
Airworthiness Investigation Manual

The Airworthiness Investigation Manual (AIM) is produced under the authority of the Airworthiness Investigative Authority (AIA) IAW DAOD 2015-1 (Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces (DND/CF) Airworthiness Program). The AIA conducts independent investigation of all matters concerning military aviation safety, which is a MND obligation outlined in the Aeronautics Act. The AIM delineates AIA policies, procedures and instructions for Airworthiness Investigations and details how the AIA interacts within DND/CF and with persons, agencies, companies or authorities outside of DND/CF. Consequently the AIM applies to all Flight Safety (FS) Investigation activities carried out by the DND/CF. As a policy document the AIM has a higher place in the governance hierarchy than other FS manuals. The effective date for the AIM is 15 Feb 10 and the compliance date is 16 Apr 10.
