Colonel Godbout

Colonel Pascal Godbout is currently the Commander of 16 Wing Borden, responsible for oversight of the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering, the RCAF Academy, and the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations.

A native of the Gaspé peninsula, Colonel Pascal Godbout enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990. He graduated in 1995 from the Collège militaire royal de St-Jean with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Upon completion of his Communications and Electronics Engineering (Air) Officer training, he was posted to ADM(IM) in Ottawa. As a junior officer, he had the opportunity to serve at the Central Region Cadet Detachment in Toronto, as an instructor at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics, and at the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment, from which he deployed to Afghanistan in 2003-2004 in support of Op ATHENA.

Promoted to Major in 2005, he was assigned to the North American Aerospace Defence (NORAD) Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. In 2008, he was selected as Wing Telecommunications and Information Systems Officer at 4 Wing Cold Lake. He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in 2010, and completed the Joint Command and Staff Programme in 2011. Upon graduation, he had the privilege to command the Wing Administration and Technical Services Branch at 22 Wing North Bay. In 2013, he returned to the Canadian Forces College as Directing Staff on the Joint Command and Staff Programme for two years, after which he took on the responsibilities of Programme Officer for the National Security Programme. He was promoted to his present rank in 2016, and appointed as the Joint Cyber Centre Deputy Director at NORAD & USNORTHCOM Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. He also qualified and served as Deputy NORAD & USNORTHCOM Command Centre Director. He was appointed as Commander 16 Wing on 4 July 2018.

Colonel Godbout holds a Master of Arts in Defence Management and Policy from the Royal Military College of Canada, and a Master in Business Administration from Athabasca University. He is also a graduate of the NATO Defence College Senior Course.
