Dr. John M. Bonn MD, LLB

Dr. John M. Bonn, Emergency Physician at Trenton Memorial Hospital, was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron, at 8 Wing Trenton, ON in February 2012.

Honorary Colonel Bonn has been a practicing physician for more than 40 years having served as the Chief of Anaesthesia at both the Trenton Memorial and Belleville General Hospitals. He has also served as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Trenton Hospital and Chief of Staff at Belleville General Hospital. He currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON and as Trusted Advisor for the Canadian arm of Verras Health care International.

Honorary Colonel Bonn was appointed a Coroner for the Province of Ontario from 1992- 97 and served on the Councils of the Ontario Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). He later held the position of Registrar of the CPSO for four years (1997 – 2001). In recognition of his leadership, Honorary Colonel Bonn was awarded Life Membership in the Ontario Medical Association in 2009.

Honorary Colonel Bonn obtained a law degree in 1990 and provides health law services to clients and law firms seeking assistance in professional regulatory matters. He has served as a Director of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. In the past, Dr. Bonn served as an elected member of the City of Trenton Municipal Council and President of the Board of the Bay of Quinte Country Club. Honorary Colonel Bonn and his family now reside in Brighton.
