Lieutenant-Colonel (Retired) Sue Kathler, Vice-President HR at FloForm Countertops, was appointed as Honorary Colonel of the Canadian Forces School of Survival and Aeromedical Training, Air Force Training Centre, Winnipeg MB in September 2013.

Honorary Colonel Kathler was born in Hamilton ON and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Winnipeg and Certificate in HR Management from University of Manitoba. She enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Air Force Reserves as a Personnel Administration Officer in 1980. She served in numerous posts in the Winnipeg area, principally at 17 Wing and Air Command Headquarters. Career highlights include selection as the Air Force representative on the NATO Commission on Security and Defence, leading a transformation team for performance management on behalf of some 20,000 National Defence civilian employees, and serving as one of the first female Commanding Officers in the Air Force.

An active member within the Winnipeg community, Honorary Colonel Kathler’s contributions include Chair, Canadian Corps of Commissionaires – Manitoba North Western Ontario; Chair, St John Ambulance – Manitoba Council; Regional Chair, Canadian Forces Liaison Council – Manitoba North Western Ontario; Committee Chair, United Way; and, an Advisor to the Hubbell Awards. Honorary Colonel Kathler is a Commander in the Order of St. John and was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2013.

Following her retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1999, Honorary Colonel Kathler was employed as a Senior HR Consultant within the financial services sector before assuming her current post in 2013.

A proud parent of two grown children, Honorary Colonel Kathler and her spouse reside in Winnipeg.
