Mr Allan J Watt, Vice President of Communications, Broadcasting and Publicity for the Edmonton Oilers hockey team was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 42 Radar Squadron in Cold Lake AB in August 2009.

Honorary Colonel Watt was born and raised in Edmonton and graduated from Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with an honours degree in Radio and Television Arts.  He joined CBC Edmonton, first in their technical and production department before becoming a sports broadcaster in Edmonton and then with CBC Calgary.

In 1980, Honorary Colonel Watt took his talents to the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club serving sequentially as Director of Media Relations, Director of Public Relations & Communications and lastly, as their Assistant General Manager for Administration. In 1996, after a significant career with the Eskimos, he shifted to a new sport, with the Edmonton Oilers, initially as their Vice President for Sponsorship, Sales and Service, then as VP Marketing and Communications before taking up his present title.

Honorary Colonel Watt is active in the Edmonton community as an elected council member, and past mayor, of the summer village of Silver Beach, on the organizing committee for the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships as well as serving on the communications committee of the River Valley Alliance.  Despite all of these demands, he still is able to pursue his passion for golf as a member of the Derrick Golf and Winter Club.
