  • Curtiss H-4 AmericaThe Curtiss H-4 became known in the Royal Navy as the Small America to differentiate it from the H-12 Large America. The British Admiralty was impressed with the design and requested Curtiss Company to design a land plane counterpart. Being too busy with war orders to complete the design, responsibility was given to its new subsidiary, the Curtis Aeroplane and Motors Company in Toronto.
