Name: Major Shane Pasiechnyk

Occupation: Communication and Electronic Engineer

Time in the CF: Since 1990

Deployment: Operation Mobile

For several months, Major Pasiechnyk has been performing a mission-critical job with the headquarters of Task Force Libeccio in Naples, Italy. He is the senior Canadian communications and information systems (CIS) advisor to the Task Force commander, responsible.

The Royal Military College of Canada mechanical engineering graduate leads a team of highly dedicated and talented Canadian Forces personnel who work around the clock to ensure Canadian Forces units deployed in four different places in Italy can communicate effectively and securely with each other.

Supporting multiple CIS assets across four locations in a high operation tempo environment has been an exciting challenge for him.

“I have been extremely impressed how the Communication and Electronic branch, both deployed and back in Canada, have worked together as a team to make Op Mobile so successful from a communications perspective,” he said.

From Kimberley, B.C., Maj Pasiechnyk is on deployment from his position as commanding officer of 764 Communications Squadron based in Ottawa.
