Colonel Luc Girouard

Colonel Luc Girouard enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in Moncton New-Brunswick in 1992, after serving for five years with 763 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron - Bouctouche.

Within the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Joint Operations Command, he has commanded aviators, soldiers, and sailors at the Element, Squadron, Wing, Air Task Force and Support Component levels and has served with the Fighter, Tactical Aviation and Search and Rescue Communities.

He has completed operational tours as part of Operations ECHO, ATHENA, AUGURAL, IMPACT and NATO Reassurance Measures.

Colonel Girouard was the Commanding Officer of 2 Air Expeditionary Squadron, and later served as Deputy Commander of the Canadian Forces Joint Operational Support Group, an agile and highly ready joint support Formation.

From the professional development and academic perspectives, Colonel Girouard is a graduate of the Pearson Peacekeeping Center’s Command and Staff Course. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Master’s Degree in Defense Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration all of those from the Royal Military College of Canada. Finally, he is a graduate of the Canadian Forces College under the Joint Command and Staff as well as the National Security Programs.

Colonel Girouard is a recipient of the Romanian Air Force Emblem of Honor, and was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Military Merit in 2012. In 2016, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his part in enhancing the RCAF’s expeditionary capability.

At his present rank Colonel Girouard has served as the 1 Canadian Air Division A4 Logistics and as the Director of Royal Canadian Air Force Logistics.

He now serves as Commander 2 Wing, proudly commanding the spearhead of the expeditionary Royal Canadian Air Force.

Colonel Girouard is an avid hockey player.
